Guide to Colleges and Universities
Search for Campus Programs
and Degrees by State
Finding the right college and university for you presents unique
challenges. You want to find a great program that will give you
the training you need to achieve your goals, but there’s much more
to the decision process than identifying a top-rated program and
signing up. There’s of course money, work/life balance, admissions,
and other logistical considerations. But one of the most important
factors to consider in your search for great higher education, and
one that can occasionally be overlooked during your research, is
your life during school and after. That’s where the Guide to Colleges
and Universities by State comes in.
Factors in Choosing
a College or School.
Possibly the most difficult decision you
will face in thinking about your college career is just
which college or school you want to choose to attend. There
are over 4,000 colleges in the US with nearly 16 million
students to choose from. As each college also offers a number
of different majors and degrees, it can be difficult to
choose just which major will suits you.

The Twain Shall Meet
Experts across the educational spectrum say it's not where
you study that matters most, but how you study.
There are both good and bad face-to-face learning experiences,
and the same holds true for distance programs, says Debra
Humphreys, Vice President for Communications at the Association
of American Colleges and Universities (AACU). Although Humphreys
favors the traditional path to a college education – one
that involves taking classes and participating in student
life on campus – she sees an important role for distance
education, especially for targeted online programs leading
to certification or a degree such as a Masters in Education
or an Online MBA.
